June was very well attended with 15 players in attendance!
Paul O, Hou and Vicky played through Dobble (Hou won) and Waterdeep (not sure who won). Meanwhile James and Val played the popular 2-player Android: Netrunner - Val gave James a run for his money (pun intended), but James was the victor in the end.
Paul J hosted a table to play Web of Power and the Medici with Paul C, Al, Rachel, new player Mark, and (for Medici) Marcus. Paul J was valiant in both games... suspicious...?
Finally, I joined James H and Nathan to play Laura's Alchemists game. I found it quite complicated, but having now played it would give it another go to see if we can get to the end (we ran out of time one round from the end). Essentially it's about mixing different ingredients to work out how to make a variety of potions. You can spend the limited resources you have each round on getting ingredients, testing ingredients on a student or on yourself, selling them to make money, and publishing and debunking theories about how what ingredients do. It's an interesting mix of using an app to randomise the ingredients/potions map each game and test mixtures, versus good old pen and paper as each player tries to work it out the quickest.
This month we had the surprise of a local radio producer contacting Nexus a few days before we met, wanting to record backing sounds and interviews. In the end he postponed, so we will see if anything further comes of that. I may email you ahead of the next games night if something develops.
