There were quite a few people away this month, so a select band of 5 met and enjoyed a couple of games.
We started with Dixit, a game played a few times at Nexus, but Val hadn't had the opportunity previously. Joined by Paul C, Paul J, James and myself we had an entertaining experience that led to a clear win by James and a clear defeat of Matt (again).
I had arrived a little later than usual as well, so unfortunately there wasn't time for Val to squeeze in another game before having to leave.
The remaining boys decided to try Paul J's Amun-Re, an Egyptian-themed game. While we thought the mechanics could be improved it was still a good hour spent with it. Money and power cards are used to bid for territories (some better than others), employ farmers (which earn money) and buy stone (which is used to build... pyramids!). Although it's not football, it is a game of two halves - the old kingdom and the new kingdom - with a mid-game scoring session, something not seen very often. We only had time to play the old kingdom and while I was in the lead at this point, the game was about to change significantly that would lead to a very different end result, I'm sure!
Until next month...
