A day for NGG members (and invited guests) to play a single game that will take all day to play.
NB attendees need to be able to commit to the full day, from 11.30am to around 5 or 6pm.
This event requires interested parties to confirm attendance in advance by 'buying' a free Eventbrite ticket - if you've not received your invite, please email/message Matt.
The following is the list of long games as ranked in October by NGG members:
Twilight Imperium (3-6 players) - played once already - infamous big space opera
Merchant of Venus (1-6 players) - space trading game where you try to dominate by earning money to upgrade to better ships and equipment and build space ports and factories
XCOM (1-4 players) - humans vs aliens aided by a mobile app that keeps things interesting
Mage Knight (1-4 players) - another big game, I'm guessing it involves Mages and Knights or possible Knights who are also Mages!
Power Grid (2-6 players) - manage a power network... it's more interesting than it sounds honest...
Letters from Whitechapel (2-6 players) - one player is Jack the Ripper, the rest are the coppers hunting him down before he completes his murder spree
Arkham Horror (1-8 players) - played once already - Lovecraftian classic where players work together to seal portals before the Ancient One behind them comes through and rips the world apart
Vinci (3-6 players) - cycle through european civilisations to score points with that civ's special powers, expanding and declining at strategic moments
Eldritch Horror (1-8 players) - Lovecraftian game in the same vein as Arkham Horror, but different
Liberte (3-6 players) - french revolution, rival factions, power plays
Zombicide (1-6 players) - zombies...
Descent (2-5 players) - campaign fantasy game with tile-based board game maps & lots of creatures to play with. One player is the overlord controlling the monsters, the rest are the heroes battling through
Firefly (1-4 players) - game of the tv series, take your spaceship, do trades around the galaxy, improve your ship, earn money & complete missions
Robinson Crusoe (1-4 players) - play shipwreck survivors needing to build shelter, find food, grow your settlement, survive and may be even thrive
Notre Dame (2-5 players) - play as heads of influential 14th century Parisian families competing for prosperity and reputation
Fortune & Glory (1-8 players) - big Indiana Jones style globetrotting adventure game with loads of pieces
Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt board game (1-5 players) - co-operative dungeon crawl in the fantasy world that started it all
Pathfinder Adventure card game (1-4 players) - card based fantasy roleplaying game
From these, I've picked the top 10 available on Dec 12th & a poll has been added to determine preferences from those attending.
