A couple of us met up for a longer gaming session on Saturday. We tried out the new bigger Fanboys store and played Steves copy of Eldritch Horror. Sadly the forces of otherworldly horror overcame our valiant heroes this time, but fun was had by all. We also tried Fanboys copy of Dominion, where Zumi's strong economy narrowly managed to get him enough victory points to win the day.

Glad you managed to get a gaming afternoon sorted out - would be interested to hear more about Fanboy3 facilities and also about Eldritch. Sounds like you managed to get through it fairly quickly if you also got Dominion on the table - would that be a NGG games night contender in future (I'd quite like to play Eldritch some time)?

It was great fun, Everyone started off failing hard in eldrich horror and slowly we built ourselves up despite being significantly weakened by mythos cards, it was so close to victory but in the end a debt cost us the game

I think Eldritch Horror could be played on a game night, if we sat down to play it straight away,

Yes we could possibly squeeze it in a game night...though the set up time is a pain and I'd have to be careful which Ancient One we play against (Rise of the Elder Things always seems to take forever). But it's one of my fave board games so I'll never turn down an opportunity to play!
We should do our own version of Arkham Nights now we have so many Lovecraft games between us. Maybe for Halloween?

I do remember hearing someone say that we were asked about doing a halloween themed thing for travelling man, Sounds like it would be a perfect idea for that.

I've followed up with Travelling Man to see how their plans are developing. Unfortunately, their head office has nicked a load of their staff at the same time for the MCM London Comicon. So it looks like they can't staff what they wanted to do back at the Manchester office, which is a shame. That doesn't stop us running something anyway or making a proposal back to them. For example, we could just run a long games day in Nexus on that Saturday (Oct 28th) - I'm happy to contact Nexus and see if the nook would be available. Or I could go back to Travelling Man to see if they can make any room in the shop on that Saturday to host a small group playing games throughout the day actually in their shop - effectively demoing them to the punters throughout the day. I wouldn't be available myself that day, as very involved in the Gothic Manchester Festival that week, but happy for you guys to do something and represent NGG

At the moment (I stress that phrase) Oct 28 is free for me. I'm not sure how easily TM would make space in their fairly cramped shop for a demo game but it's worth finding out. I haven't looked lately how busy their Wed evenings seem to be and how they use the space since they rearranged the shop ... To be fair to them also if we are going to "demo" something then we might have be prepared to step up and explain to onlookers what is going on, not just have a ball playing! Demo games at conventions invite people to play and teach them the rules. I've been introduced to a lot of games that way. Matt: do tell me about the Goth Festival sometime ... email me?

28th is good for me also atm, though work may throw me a curve ball, i wont know until much closer tot he date... I agree it should be something that we can "pause" and explain to onlookers if we do do it.
